Haweswater Cottage offers self catering accommodation in a remote rural location near Haweswater in Cumbria. The cottage is situated on the outskirts of a traditional Cumbrian farm which is surrounded by miles and miles of lakeland fells on which guests are free to roam. This truly is a magical place for those that wish to walk or ride amid beautiful open Cumbrian landscape direct from the door of the cottage.

Who should stay at Haweswater Cottage?
If you love the outdoors and want to explore the less frequented fells to the east of Ullswater and High Street, direct from the cottage door, then Haweswater Cottage is for you. If you simply want to chill out in a remote country location, away from the bustle of your everyday life, then Haweswater Cottage is for you. If you want to bring your horse(s) to enjoy riding amid stunning scenery where you are unlikely to see anyone else then Haweswater Cottage is definitely for you.
You don't have to be a walking enthusiast to enjoy Haweswater Cottage. It is an ideal base for exploring the area around Haweswater, one of the more remote lakes of the English Lake District. Visitors will find the roads and fells around Hawswater far less crowded than central Lakeland. This region is a real gem. Don't expect to find a big supermarket round the corner but do expect to find a breath of fresh air in a remote area of beautiful Cumbrian countryside. We assure you a warm and friendly welcome.

Activities
Hill Walking. Haweswater Cottage is surrounded on all sides by quiet inviting Cumbrian fells. Take a look at our location to see exactly where we are in relation to Haweswater, High Street, Bampton Common and Haweswater to plan your routes.
Horse Riding. The nearby fells offer excellent opportunities for trekking.
Cycling. The roads in this area of Cumbria are significantly less crowded than the main Lakes so can be better enjoyed by cyclists.
Fishing. Fishing on Haweswater is free for those with a standard Environment Agency licence. It offers fishing for wild brown trout. The trout are not big (4-8oz) but they are free rising with fly fishing probably the most productive method.
Birds and Wildlife. There is a RSPB Nature Reserve at Haweswater where a great deal of information on local birds is available. You will see fell ponies watching you from the fell slopes next to Haweswater Cottage. Other wildlife to be observed include deer, foxes, badgers and red squirrels.
