You don't have to be a walking enthusiast to enjoy Haweswater Cottage. It is an ideal base for exploring the area around Haweswater, one of the more remote lakes of the English Lake District.
Visitors will find the roads and fells around Hawswater far less crowded than central Lakeland. This region is a real gem. Don't expect to find a big supermarket round the corner but do expect to find a breath of fresh air in a remote area of beautiful Cumbrian countryside.

Bampton and Bampton Grange are the nearest villages to Haweswater Cottage, about 2 miles away. They have excellent pubs offering good food and real ales. Bampton has a village store providing basic supplies. It is a pleasant drive to Shap where there are more pubs and more shops and Haweswater is another pleasant drive away. The fells, of course, are on our doorstep.
